Monophona - Girls on bikes boys who sing (2017)
Label: Kapitän Platte
Issued: 2017
Sì però avrei fretta: Tick of a clock / To the wall
Tre domande alla band
Q1 - It is somewhat clear that your sound refers to the early-90's Bristol scene. Which are differences from what you do now and what happened then?
A1 - I would say the production has evolved from the 90’s trip hop sound. Back then people sampled a lot of drum breaks which not many producers do anymore. Technology has advanced tremendously since. It is much easier to make music nowadays than before. Thus the sound quality has also progressed a lot.
Q2 - Tick of a clock (a very strong song in myhumble opinion) seems a bit different in the scope of your record. Can you explain reasons for this choice?
A2 - On Tick of a clock we have Nicolas Prezor playing guitars. He’s one of the members of Mutiny on The bounty, a really good math rock band from Luxembourg. I guess that influenced the sound a lot. The idea was to do a cross Mutiny/ Monophona song.
Q3 - OK. And what about now?
A3 - We’ve got a few gigs lined up: Nantes (F), Thun (CH), Nyon (CH), Karlsruhe (D).
